At GFL, athlete safety is our top priority. While it is impossible for us to guarantee injury-free play, we have taken great strides to put injury prevention measures in place to keep our athletes as safe as possible.
Since 2006, Gwinnett Medical Center Sports Medicine Program has teamed up with us to train our coaches annually on first aid and injury prevention protocols. In 2019 we have expanded our partnership with GMC’s Sport Medicine team to further strengthen our safety standards and ensure best practices. With their guidance, we have established emergency management plans, equipped our fields with necessary healthcare resources, assigned trained safety coaches to each team, and put in place one of the most comprehensive concussion management programs in the nation for recreational play. Gwinnett Medical Center’s certified athletic trainers will serve on our sidelines during games to watch over our athletes and respond to injuries as soon as they occur. All league safety measures apply across both football and cheerleading programs, because we value the health, wellness, and safety of all our youth.
